Vijayawada: Rajindra Singh Chima, national president of Indian Association of Lawyers (IAL), advised the Union government to withdraw the CAA, NPR and NRC enactments to save its face in the wake of widespread but peaceful protest demonstrations throughout the country.

While reading out the resolutions passed by the 10th national conference of the Indian Association of Lawyers (IAL) to the media at Kshetraiah Kalakshetram here on Sunday, Chima said that the conference passed chiefly five resolutions.

The first resolution deals with finding solution to the nationwide agitation against the three enactments of CAA, NPR and NRC which are directly affecting millions of people throughout the country. The second resolution demands immediate stopping of the hate campaign. The IAL condemned the hate campaign in the country. It is high time the government dispelled the fear of everyone.

He said that the third resolution appealed to judicial fraternity of judges, advocates, law teachers and students to strive to save the Constitution. The fourth resolution deals with the welfare measures for young lawyers who need health insurance and pension benefits.

The fifth resolution calls for eradicating the inequalities in the society, Chima said pointing out that one per cent of the population owned 70 per cent of the resources in the country. Expressing concern over the growing inequalities in the country, he said that it was high time the inequalities should be totally eradicated.

The five resolutions would be forwarded to the Union Law Ministry and the Central government, he said.

Muralidharan, one of the general secretaries of the IAL from Karnataka, expressed grave concern over the implementation of the NRC. He said that in Karnataka alone there are six lakh nomadic tribes who would be treated as doubtful citizens since they do not have any document to prove that they are the citizens of the country. Moreover, the doubtful citizens would be kept in detention camps, which is more dangerous. It has been estimated that there are at least six crore doubtful citizens throughout the country.
