Inter-school Boys Volleyball Championship kick-starts in Visakhapatnam
An inter-school Boys Volleyball Championship was flagged off by Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan’s Public School here on Friday.
Visakhapatnam: An inter-school Boys Volleyball Championship was flagged off by Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan's Public School here on Friday.
Organised in association with the Visakhapatnam District Volleyball Association (VDVA) as part of its Sports Academy activities, the tournament was inaugurated by Visakhapatnam West MLA and president of VDVA P G V R Naidu (Gana Babu).
Addressing the gathering, Naidu stressed on the importance of training students in games and sports at school-level to help them become future champions. Further, he mentioned that this kind of platform provides an opportunity to showcase students' inherent talent.
Laying emphasis on effective utilisation of leisure time, the MLA advised the students to explore their skills in sports which will pave way for improved health and wellbeing apart from relieving stress.
About 144 students from over a dozen schools across the city participated in the tournament.
Chairman of Olympic Association TSR Prasad, vice-president of Visakhapatnam District Cricket Association (VDCA) D S Varma and Principal of the school Shimpy Kumari addressed the gathering. Coaches, teachers and parents attended the programme.
