Kakinada: With plastic and solid waste posing a major challenge at tourist spots in agency areas, the Rampachodavaram ITDA PO Nishant Kumar adopted a unique method to control the problem of solid waste.

He formed teams with students and teachers. In the team, some students were dressed like Gandhiji. The teams also comprise volunteers from NCC and NSS accompanied by a social studies teacher. The team led by Gandhiji will go to the tourists visiting area and appeal them to keep the forest clean.

They will also explain the harmful consequences of throwing plastic in water streams and on roadsides. The student volunteers also help in cleaning the garbage and dismantled plastic waste and motivate the tourists to do shramdaan for this activity.

The teams will also request tourists to use plates made of leaves and completely stop single use plastic. The teams are also given some training and visual educational material for the same. Some photos depicting harmful impact of plastic were showcased at all the important tourist spots. Dustbins made of cement with clear marking were placed at all important tourist locations.
