TDP Anantapur Lok Sabha candidate JC Pavan Kumar Reddy addressing villagers as part of his election campaign

Anantapur: TDP Anantapur MP candidate JC Pavan Kumar Reddy is a fresher to politics as is his YSRCP rival candidate Talari Rangaiah. An MBA postgraduate, he is now standing in his father's shoes, who is a sitting MP.

The Hans India has interacted with Pavan Reddy, who is confident of his victory as an MP. His father J C Diwakar Reddy has taken upon himself the responsibility of ensuring his son's victory when he urged Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu for his son's nomination in his place.

To the question what his priorities were if he is elected as MP, Pavan Reddy said that he would work for extending irrigation to the last acre of farmers in his constituency. He would also execute underground drainage project in the city and strive for further expansion and widening of roads.

Other priority includes to make the 2-laned flyover near PTC into 4-laned flyover road, upgrading the city into a smart city and establishing tomato processing plants for the benefit of farmers and also set up mineral based industries in his constituency. Pavan says that the people's expectations would be very high as he is standing in his father's shoes.

Asked he would coup up with the responsibility as an MP as he is a novice to politics, Pavan replied that he is not totally new to politics as he had been helping his father in election campaigns and closely observing his style of functioning.

Besides, Pavan says that he had been doing ground work for over two years for him to contest the election by connecting with people. As a businessman sharing his father's responsibilities in running a very large fleet of passenger transport, he had launched welfare schemes through the J C Family Trust. He set up as many as 200 water purification plants in villages in the MP constituency. He had also dug 110 bore-wells for the benefit of poor farmers, who could not afford to dig one.

Replying to a question on how he felt to share his father's rich political background, he replied that it was his fortune and luck. Asked whether he felt inadequate in the political battle with some people opposing his father's style of functioning.

Pavan replied that he and his father are working closely with one and all to bring back TDP to power and see N Chandrababu Naidu as the Chief Minister of the State. Pavan said that he is more than satisfied in his efforts to connect with people for nearly 2 years and this proved to be an advantage to him. Interestingly, his rival in YSRCP Talari Rangaiah too had been working silently for over a year and connecting with people.
