The contempt of court petition filed against the Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy for writing a letter to Chief Justice of India alleging Supreme Court judge LV Ramana and other High Court judges has slated for hearing today. However, Justice UU Lalit has refused to take up the petitions. Lalit said the CJI would transfer the trial to another bench. He said that he had argued on behalf of both the parties previously hence avoided arguing on behalf of one another.

It is learnt that CM Jagan had written a letter accusing the Supreme Court and High Court judges. Challenging the disclosure of the letter, Petitions have been filed in the Supreme Court. Lawyers GS Mani, Pradeep Kumar and SK Singh have filed contempt of court petitions against Jagan seeking immediate removal from the post of Chief Minister. The petitioners demanded that a constitutional internal committee be set up with sitting or retired judges of the Supreme Court to look into the matter with the CBI as well.

A bench headed by Justice Lalit Kumar heard the case. But it has become interesting that Justice Lalit rescued himself from the trial.
