Kadapa: Police arrested 5 red sander smugglers and recovered 780kgs weighed RS 18 lakhs worth 45 logs from them at Chenigunta village of Ontimitta Mandal late night on Monday.
According to the Rajampet DSP Narayana Swamy Reddy following tip-off police conducted raids at Chenigunta forest area and arrested the smugglers while illegally transporting precious wood from the forest.
He said that the police suspecting the accused might having connections with the international smugglers. A case has been registered by Ontimitta police.
