TDP leaders submitting a memorandum to the tahsildar in Rayachoti in Kadapa district on Tuesday demanding roll back of the new farm laws enacted by the Centre

Trucks stranded on National Highways between 5 am and 1 pm

Kadapa : In response to the call given by national farmers' unions, Bharat Bandh was peaceful across Kadapa district on Tuesday.

Farmers in large numbers and activists of the Congress, TDP, CPI and CPM organised rallies at various places in the district.

RTC bus services were confined to the depots. Business establishments, public and private educational institutions, hotels and cinema halls remained closed while staff working in banks attended duties wearing black badges.

Trucks and lorries remained stranded on Nationals Highways between 5 am and 1 pm and they were restored later in the afternoon.

In Kadapa city, farmers under the banner of Akhila Bharatha Kisan Porata Committee have organised a rally with bullock carts and tractors from the CPI office to Seven Cross Roads in the city.

Speaking on the occasion, CPI district secretary Eswaraiah warned of intensifying agitation if the BJP-led NDA government fails to withdraw the new farm laws. AP Rythu Sangam district secretary Gali Chandra, AITUC district secretary Naga Subbareddy and others were present.

The Congress activists also took out a rally in support of Bharat Bandh. Meanwhile in Rayachoti, TDP activists led by R Srinivasulu Reddy met the tahsildar and submitted a representation demanding scrapping of the new farm laws.
