Kakinada: Joint Collector G Raja Kumari instructed officials to work in coordination to reach out to the beneficiaries under YSR Cheyuta scheme launched by the State government for the empowerment of women.

The JC conducted a review meeting with officials on YSR Cheyuta scheme at Animal Husbandry department here on Saturday. She said women from SC, ST, BC and minority communities between the ages of 45 and 60 are eligible for the YSR Cheyuta scheme.

She said the State government is implementing the scheme with the aim of promoting economic development among women. She said that 42,591 women in the district have applied for the purchase of cattle. Similarly, 9, 899 women applied for the purchase of goats and sheep. She said the plan was to provide livestock worth Rs 75,000 to women under the scheme to provide financial self-sufficiency to poor women.

The Joint Collector said that the first instalment of Rs 18,750 will be credited to their bank account for purchase. And the remaining amount of Rs 56,250 will be released from the concerned bank.

The JC suggested that the DRDA, lead bank manager and Animal Husbandry Departments should work in coordination to implement the YSR Cheyuta scheme in a way that would benefit the beneficiaries financially. She said that awareness seminars should be organized at the Rythu Bharosa Kendras (RBK) in the villages on the purchase and selection of dairy cattle at the village level.

Joint Director of Animal Husbandry T Srinivasa Rao, DRDA PD Y Hariharnath, lead bank manager J Shanmukha Rao and others were present.
