Speaking to the The Hans India, Chairman of DEd students Association K Srinivas has expressed grave concern over the sad state of affairs. The DEd students are faced with bleak prospects. The successive government permitted a good number of DEd colleges and allowed the managements to admit thousands of students. Now the government has become insensitive to the plight of the students, he said.

A S Jyothirmai, a DEd student of DCV College of Education, and another students G Mamidada have appealed to the State government to frame a policy to help them. The DEd holders are only qualified to teach students in elementary schools.

It is because the DEd students are trained to take up the task, she feels. Similarly, Deepshaka, another DEd student, expressed the same opinion. G Naga Hymavathi, D.Ed student of VS Lakshmi Degree College said the two-year training being given to DEd students is meant to ensure that they are qualified to teach students of elementary schools. The DEd qualified candidate are alone competent to teach to the students at elementary level.
