Kakinada: With lofty ideals and empathetic vision Malladi Satyalingam Nayakar donated crores of rupees through his MSN Charities for the spread of education among the poor as well as for the promotion of Vedic studies . However, the Endowment Department through the Executive Officer (EO) P Chalapathi Rao of Veda Pathasala is subjecting the Vedic students to starvation with no basic facilities of water and other amenities.
EO Chalapathi Rao is insensitive to the woes of the students though he lives in luxary at the expense of students battering the vision and ideals of the founder.
Elite of many sections in the East Godavari district are demanding the suspension of the respective officials of Veda Pathasala under the control of Endowment Department in pensioners' paradise. An item relating to the institute was published in these columns about the plight of the students in the school, which made an impact in the city.
As a result, many people responded and asked District Collector D Muralidhar Reddy to set right the things in the MSN Charities Vedic school.
Reacting to "The Hans India" reports about the plight of Vedic students of MSN Charities at Kakinada, prominent personalities sent their comments to The Hans India.
Dr NKV Rao, retired government college principal pungently remarked, "The wrath of the donors from the other world would descend as curses on those who neglect the welfare the Vedic students of Kakinada. The crores of rupees donated for the noble cause of Vedic studies should be spent for the food and other amenities exclusively for Vedic students only. He said that EO Chalapathi Rao of Vedic school has set a bad example in running the Vedic hostel.
An SC leader of Rangapuram and Assistant Professor of English GV Ratnam stated, "The Endowment Department personnel including EO of MSN Charities Veda Pathasala Chalapathi Rao should undergo training in Christian institutes for learning the dedication and showing concern for the inmates of the hostel. It is quite obvious that Hindu officers can't run their institutions in a spirit of service and loving kindness for their Vedic students.
English Teacher of Anaparthy, Naga Raju, spoke about the apathy and irreverence of Chalapathi Rao towards the study of Vedas and the Vedic students. "Being a Brahmin he has no respect for Vedic students and hence made them live in squalid and dingy hostel and subjected them to humiliation and torture.
Dr Ch Kama Raju , Professor of Law belonging to Rajamahendravaram said, "The Hindu officers don't have missionary zeal and Swamijis are delighted in giving Divine discourses , but show little interest in the problems of Vedic students. The mass exodus of socially disadvantaged persons to other faiths is due to the negligence and apathy of Hindu leaders and Swamijis.
Noted Chartered Accountant Ganesh Kumar made a cryptic comment. "Despite the RSS and the BJP the fate of Kakinada Vedic students seems to be pitiable and miserable.
Some more people also spoke to "The Hans India" condemning the attitude of the EO towards Vedic students and demanded the government immediate suspension of the EO and order an enquiry into the conditions of the MSN Charities Vedic School.
