Andhra Pradesh BJP President Kanna Lakshminarayana wrote a letter to governor Biswabhushan Harichandan over the state election commission Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar's issue on Wednesday. He said that it is not correct for the YSRCP government to interfere in the functioning of the State Election Commission, a self-governing constitutional body. He accused the YSRCP of irregularities in the elections of local bodies in violation of all democratic norms. "The BJP has always brought these matters to your attention, " Kanna said in a letter to the governor.

The Election Commission has suspended the respective district officials, including two district collectors and two police superintendents. However, the state government has kept the relevant authorities in the postings without enforcing the orders. If the election is postponed due to the spread of coronavirus, the government has launched a hostile campaign against the SEC.

He recalled that the government has issued an ordinance to remove the state election commissioner despite the Andhra Pradesh High Court scrapping it directing the state government to reinstate Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar as state election commissioner.

However, Kanna commented that the state government is hellbent on removing Ramesh Kumar as the election commissioner. He also said that Ramesh Kumar has deployed police forces to prevent him from entering his office. Hence, Kanna urged the governor to take action to restore Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar as a state election commissioner.
