Vijayawada: A total of 62 corona positive cases reported in Krishna district during the last 24 hours and the total cases reached to 1,743. Despite the measures being taken by the district administration to implement Unlock 2.0 guidelines to check the spread of cases, the new cases are reported every day. Active cases in the district are 1,003 and 671 recovered persons were discharged from the Covid-19 hospitals after the treatment. Krishna district is in the second position after Kurnool in the deaths as 69 deaths reported so far.

Kurnool has the highest number of deaths in the state with 81. Of the total 232 deaths registered due to Covid-19 in the state, the districts have recorded 150 deaths. Most of the infected persons died due to Covid-19 have health complications and most of them are above 50 years of age. The district administration has arranged Covid-19 testing centres in almost all towns to collect the swabs. Vijayawada has the most affected areas with more than 1,200 cases. Interestingly, the Covid-19 cases are reported in rural areas too.

The district administration has announced the containment clusters where shops are permitted to open till 11 am in most areas. In Vijayawada, commercial activity almost crippled due to the impact of Covid-19 and many commercials areas are in the containment zones. The restrictions hampered the business activity and traders are suffering huge losses due to the closure of shops.

In Machilipatnam, eight new cases reported during the last 24 hours. Bandar division has registered 132 cases. The police are trying to create awareness and implementing restrictions strictly in the containment areas. Similar is the case in other parts of the district.
