Kurnool: 53 held; 6,648 bottles of NDPL seized

Kurnool: During an intensified checking conducted across the district and at border check-posts, the staff of the Special Enforcement Bureau (SEB) seized huge quantities of Non-Duty Paid Liquor (NDPL) bottles on Friday.
Circle Inspector Lakshmi Durgaiah has said that following the orders of Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) of SEB, Gowthami Sali, every vehicle that entered into Andhra Pradesh from Telangana State was checked at Panchalingala border check-post.
During the inspection, a larger number of NDPL bottles have been seized. As many as 6,648 bottles of liquor of various brands, 575 litres of country-made liquor; 4,564 kg of jaggery (for manufacturing liquor), 17 vehicles and 4,755 banned gutka packets were seized.
Apart from these, 6,750 litres of jaggery wash was also destroyed that was detected during the raids. With regard to the illegal liquor trade, 53 persons have been arrested and 35 cases were booked.
The Circle Inspector further stated that raids were also conducted to curb the illegal sand trade. During the raids, 4.5 tonnes of sand and a vehicle were seized. Two persons were arrested and a case was filed. The Circle Inspector appealed to the people to inform the police about the illegal sale of liquor, sand and other spurious products across the district. He asked the people to upload photos, videos or any other information in Whatsapp No.7993822444.
He said that the informers' name and other details would never be revealed under any circumstance. The officer has urged people not to involve in such anti-social activities. Illegal trading of sand, liquor and other spurious products would put them behind bars.
