The automated temperature screening equipment will be useful to screen temperatures of visitors to the civic body, says Municipal Commissioner D K Balaji

Kurnool: An automated temperature screening (ATS) gate was set up at Kurnool Municipal Corporation replacing the manual checking. The equipment is helpful to screen large numbers of visitors to the office every day, said the Commissioner, DK Balaji.

In a statement released to media persons on Thursday, the Commissioner stated that several precautionary measures have been taken to control the spread of killer virus. But people are behaving in a negligent manner. Everyone was ordered to wear a mask when they come out of their houses. If anyone is found without a mask they are being fined, said DK Balaji.

He further said that Corporation deals with all civic problems with which people visit to the office on a large scale. It may not be possible to check the temperature of each person who visit the office. Some persons would have been infected with the virus and with his entry there is every chance of spreading the virus to others. So to check the symptoms of the infected person, the machine will be helpful, the Commissioner said.

He further said that every person who visits the office has to pass through the gate. While passing the automated machine would check the body temperature of the visitor. If it is found that he has abnormal temperature, then it will give an alarming signal. The staff deployed at the gate will take the person into custody and send him to medical examination. The person after testing by the medical staff will be referred to isolation or home quarantine, said DK Balaji.

After setting up an automated temperature scanning machine, the commissioner got his body temperature tested.
