Kurnool: Four children dead and 15 injured after a lorry rammed into public
In a ghastly road accident that took place in Kurnool district, a DCM lorry caused a disturbance near Erraguntla in Sirivella mandal on the Kurnool-Kadapa national highway.
In a ghastly road accident that took place in Kurnool district, a DCM lorry caused a disturbance near Erraguntla in Sirivella mandal on the Kurnool-Kadapa national highway. It crashed into pedestrians walking on the road leaving four children dead on the spot and 15 others seriously injured. The deceased have been identified as Surekha (10), Jhansi (11), Vamsi (12) and Harshavardhan (10) while the injured were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital.
The victims were identified as belonging to the local Erraguntla village. A total of up to 40 people were there at the time of the incident. The accident happened while they were going to home after offering prayer as part of the Christmas celebrations. After the accident, the DCM lorry tried to flee. The locals immediately alerted and chased him and the driver and the cleaner were handed over to the police.
The police who registered the case are investigating while the locals said that the accident was caused due to over speed and negligence.
