Kurnool: Municipal Corporation Commissioner D K Balaji has stated that the corporation will initiate severe action on those who dig the roads without obtaining prior permission. In a statement released on Saturday, the Commissioner said that Kurnool is being transformed into a clean and green city and the roads in all colonies were laid beautifully in the town.
It is the responsibility of people to ensure the roads are not digged and destroyed, he said.
Stating that the roads reflect the culture of nation, the Commissioner said several organisations of Telcom bodies were indiscriminately digging the main and internal roads for laying cables. After completing the work, they were least bothered to patch the damaged roads, he pointed out. He said the corporation will initiate strong action against those firms as per the law.
The Commissioner further said several water supply pipelines were also damaged while digging the roads. As a result, water supply to several colonies was affected. He directed the authorities of Telcom and cable departments to obtain permission from the corporation for digging the roads while laying cables. After the work is completed, he said they have to relay the road or pay compensation for the damage. He appealed to the residents to bring to the notice of civic authorities about any unauthorised digging of road in the city limits through WhatsApp no 74992299.
