Kurnool: District Collector G Veera Pandiyan directed the officials of Agriculture and allied departments to encourage the farmers to use natural (organic) fertilisers. He addressed an awareness programme organised on Rythu Bharosa Centres at Sunaina Auditorium here on Friday. The officials of Agriculture, Veterinary and Fisheries departments were present.

The Collector said in olden days farmers used to cultivate crops by using natural manures like dung. But, in due course of time, everything has been changed. The organic farming has totally changed to chemical farming. "The farmers are widely using chemical fertilisers and pesticides which have been impacting human lives. It is our responsibility to educate farmers to shun usage of chemicals and to adopt natural farming,'' said the Collector.

He further said that the government, with an aim to educate farmers, has introduced Rythu Bharosa Centres. The officials of agriculture department have to make field visit in rural areas and educate farmers about natural farming. He suggested the officials to keep the latest machinery and equipment available to the farmers at Bharosa Centres. The officials of Agriculture, Fisheries and Veterinary DRDA, Irrigation and Forest department officials have to coordinate with each other and ensure the schemes are reached to the farmers, he said.

On this occasion, the District Collector felicitated one Dr Baba Fakkruddin of veterinary department for his excellent performance at kick boxing conducted in Delhi. Joint Collector, Syed Khaza Mohiuddin, Joint Director of Agriculture (JDA) Wilson, Joint Director of Veterinary department, Ramanaiah and other officials were present.
