Kurnool: Roof collapses during Muharram celebrations, 20 injured

Kurnool: An unfortunate incident took place at Muharram celebration. A roof extension collapsed and the people standing upon and beneath it suffered injuries. As many as 20 people suffered injuries in the incident. The injured were immediately rushed to Kurnool Government General hospital for treatment. Of the 20 people five of them were known to have sustained head and bone fractures.

The incident took place at Bandameedi Tandrapadu (B Tandrapadu) village on the intervening morning of Tuesday.

According to information, the villagers have organized a dance program surrounding the embers pit. All villagers assembled at the function place and some of them were known to be watching from the house rooftops. While the dancing session is under progress a extension of the house roof suddenly collapsed on the people stationed under it. The roof extension could not hold the number of people standing on it.

All the villagers at once removed the debris and rushed to Kurnool Government General hospital for treatment. Majority of them have suffered minor injuries and five on them were known to have suffered critical injuries. The critically injured were under doctors case at the intensive care unit.

Taluka police on learning about the incident rushed to the spot and took the stock to control.
