The YSR Congress Party government headed by chief minister Jagan Mohan Reddy has made a sensational decision ahead of the local body elections. Minister Anil Kumar Yadav has announced that the supply of liquor will be stopped for a few days with which the liquor stores will remain closed from March 12 to March 29.

He said the decision was made in order not to influence the people with money and alcohol on voters in the elections. The polling will be held for March 21 for the MPTC seats while the elections for municipal, urban panchayats and corporations will be held on March 23.

It is reported that local body elections will be held in three phases in Andhra Pradesh where the municipal elections will be held in a single phase while Gram panchayat elections will be held in two phases. In the first phase, 660 ZPTC and 9,639 MPTC will be held in the first phase. In the third phase, there will be elections for municipalities.

The state election commission has released the notification for the Municipal elections on Monday and the filing of nominations began on Tuesday.
