Tirupati: Municipal Corporation of Tirupati (MCT) Commissioner PS Girisha directed the officials to evolve plans to develop the vacant corporation sites in the city so as to make them productive for augmenting corporation income.

The commissioner along with engineering, town planning and revenue officials on Friday made an extensive inspection covering vacant sites, park, shopping complexes and also Nehru Municipal High School in the city.

After inspection of the municipal guest house near East police station that was lying idle and unproductive for long, the civic chief directed the officials to take immediate steps for modernising the guest house to bring it back into use.

Girisha was irked at the encroachment of pavements by the shopkeepers at the shopping complex opposite of Srinivasam and wanted them to confine to their area and not to cause inconvenience to the public. He sought the engineering official to plan for developing the vacant site adjacent to Sri Anjaneya Swamy temple in Peddakapu layout area to set up fuel station by the corporation itself.

During the inspection of municipal park, he wanted the authorities to improve further greenery and also the walking track facility in the park. In the inspection of the Nehru municipal, he said that it was sad there were no adequate facilities in the school having 800 students to promote sports for the benefit of the children and wanted the authorities to provide facilities for sports and games on priority basis. He also interacted with the students.

The commissioner told the school officials to take steps to plant more trees on the premises of school. Meanwhile, Girisha lauded the Health department which taken up a massive exercise of cleaning of drains and road in Jeevakona a predominant labour area in the city.

As many as 800 workers were deployed in massive cleaning operation which was taken up on Friday following the direction of commissioner, who responding to the complaints from the residents directed the Health department to take up the long pending cleaning. Municipal Engineers Chandrasekhar, Rahamat Jani, Assistant City Planner Gunasekhar and others were present.
