Tirupati: RASS Krishi Vignan Kendra (KVK) on Tuesday organised an awareness programme on balanced use of fertilisers in agriculture.

SV Agriculture College Professor Dr MVS Naidu was the chief guest and emphasised on the importance of soil and added that fertile soil can be maintained through judicious use of fertilisers. He also explained farmers about different nutrients required for plant growth, farm production, deficiencies and correction measures.

Assistant Director of Farmers Training Centre, Chittoor M Bhakaraiah explained about nutrient management in different crops, types of fertilisers and time of application to different fields and horticultural crops. APMIP (AP Micro Irrigation Project) official Subhashini gave a detailed account on fertigation for horticultural crops to enhance yield and also explained government schemes available under APMIP for farmers.

RASS KVK Senior Scientist and Head Dr S Sreenivasulu in his opening remarks explained about different activities of KVK for farmers and importance of balanced fertilisation for higher yields. Later, seeds and soil health cards were distributed to farmers.

On the occasion various private agencies exhibited farm implements, fertilisers and micro irrigation system for creating awareness among farmers. Sericulture Assistant Director Geetha Assistant , Assistant Director Agriculture Subramanyam and others also spoke.
