Minister denies IT firm shifting from Millennium Towers

Visakhapatnam: Fake news about the burning issues such as Novel Coronavirus happen to mislead the people in more ways than one.

Early this month, rumours about the nCoV infecting a few in Kakinada created enough panic among people in Andhra Pradesh. However, it turned out to be fake news later.

Before this news gets erased from the minds of public, another fake news cropped up on Thursday. This time, it revolved around the much-discussed topic 'Millennium Towers' which is in the news soon after Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy brought the three-capital's proposal to the fore.

Attaching a paper clipping of a leading English daily filed in January, the fake posting involving the IT company said that it was asked to vacate the Tower-A by March 30. But the IT company denied any issue of notification from the government to vacate the place. It further mentioned that the board decided to down its shutters and relocate 2,400 staff to other states.

Though the news went viral in social media in a short span of time, it eventually turned out to be fake during the later part of the day.

In the wake of three-capital proposal that is drawing much attention in the recent past wherein people are keeping a close tab on the updates pertaining to it, this sort of fake news happen to mislead and confuse them.

Apparently, YSRC leaders allege that those who are against the decentralisation move taken by the government are resorting to such postings on social media.

Some leaders took to twitter to convey their views on the fake news. Minister for Industries, Commerce and IT Mekapati Goutham Reddy tweeted on his handle stating that he denied the news against KIA Motors and IT Company in AP as there is no iota of truth in it. Further, he mentioned that fake news make noise for a short time but cannot spoil the confidence and faith people have in the government.
