Kurnool: Nandyal MP SPY Reddy decided to quit the Telugu Desam Party. Along with Reddy, his son-in-law and TDP State secretary Sajjala Sreedhar Reddy also decoded to bid goodbye to the party on Monday.

Speaking to mediapersons at Nandyal, SPY Reddy alleged that the TDP had betrayed them though they had rendered trustworthy services to the party. "We were expecting the seats but at the last hour the seats were allocated to some others," the dejected Reddy said.

He further said that they do not follow blackmailing politics nor they do know lobbying. "Whatever we know is fair politics and winning the hearts of the people. We have enormous support from all walks of people in and around Nandyal. We will show what is our calibre in Nandyal Parliament constituency," added SPY Reddy.

He said that they do not intend to join any party but will contest as independent candidates for both Lok Sabha and State Assembly from Nandyal. He said that they would begin their door-to-door campaign from Tuesday. "People will happily receive us with great zeal and will support the candidature of Sajjala Sreedhar Reddy," SPY Reddy exuded confidence.

SPY Reddy won the Nandyal Lok Sabha seat after contesting from YSR Congress in 2014 election and later he shifted to the Telugu Desam Party. He and his son-in-law, Sajjala Sreedhar Reddy remained loyal to the Telugu Desam and worked hard for the party victory in 2017 Nandyal byelection.

They were extremely disappointed with the decision of Naidu not to allot tickets to them. On the other hand, it is learnt that SV Mohan Reddy who also won Kurnool Assembly seat from YSR Congress and later shifted loyalty to the TDP, has also decided to quit the ruling party. A source said that he is being offered MLC seat by the YSR Congress.
