Nara Lokesh condemns arrest of TDP worker
- Says the ruling party is afraid of TDP; the cases foisted on party workers reflect the cowardly behaviour of the government
- Dalit activist Maniratnam was arrested for a social media post on Ponnur legislator
- Demands Guntur Urban SP to reveal CCTV footage of Pedakakani police station to confirm whether he was arrested or not
Amaravati: TDP national general secretary and former minister Nara Lokesh accused the Guntur Urban police for acting against the interests of the SC and Dalit communities by making false arrests and using intimidation tactics against them.
In a statement here, Lokesh alleged that the police made a false arrest of TDP activist Maniratnam for a post on social media about the Ponnur MLA. The ruling party was afraid of the TDP cadres and cases were being foisted reflecting the cowardly activities of the government.
He said that instead of doing justice to the aggrieved, the police were taking action that will harm the SCs. If the Guntur Urban SP had any courage, he should disclose the CCTV footage at the Pedakakani police station to ascertain whether or not Maniratnam was arrested. He released a photograph of the released Maniratnam at the police station.
Earlier, he slammed the ruling party leaders for trying to grab the hotel and the site belonging to a poor BC woman at Satuluru in Chilakaluripeta Assembly constituency. The YSRCP leaders set their eyes on the property of a lonely woman who had to earn her livelihood for protecting her two children.
Lokesh demanded immediate action against the YSRCP leaders who were harassing the hapless woman and saving their family. The ongoing atrocities revealed how the common people had no security and right to live under the present atrocious regime.
It may be recalled that the lone BC woman was threatening to commit suicide along with her two children, if the local YSRCP leaders do not stop their efforts to grab her hotel and land. Already, there were many incidents wherein families committed joint suicides in the state. Some have attempted suicide, unable to bear harassment in the hands of the miscreants who have political influence, he said.
