Natya Tarangini, a bunch of Kuchipudi dances were presented by the disciples of Dr Chinta Ravi Balakrishna on Wednesday evening at Ghantasala Venkateswara Rao Government Music and Dance College here.

Vijayawada: Natya Tarangini, a bunch of Kuchipudi dances were presented by the disciples of Dr Chinta Ravi Balakrishna on Wednesday evening at Ghantasala Venkateswara Rao Government Music and Dance College here. This event was organised by Vempati Kalakshetram, Kuchipudi.

Dr Chinta Ravi Balakrishna was an eminent dance master and he had travelled extensively and spread the flavour of Kuchipudi dance. He also had number of students not only in India and also in other countries.

The programme was commenced with the Guru puja by the students of Ravi Balakrishna to the dance experts like Nemalikanti Suvarnalatha, a scholar in both Kuchipudi and Bharatanatyam, Pasumarthy Srinivasa Sarma, an exponent in traditional Kuchipudi dance, MD Giri, a noted dance master from Tenali and also to Kumara Suryanarayana, vocalist.

It is an encouragement sign that this art forum was patronized by the students who are doing B Tech and graduation. The dance items were performed by G Manogna, Y Saranya Bala, Sri Vidya Hiranmayi Manjusha, P Sravya Ghreeshma, D Likhita, LV Manathi and BSNL Brundalika.

These artistes showcased the dance items like 'Sri Vighnarajam Bhaja' (Nata ragam), 'Sankara Sri Girnadha Prabho' (Bahudari ragam), 'Nano namo Raghukula nayaka' (nata ragam), 'Samaganalolane Sadasiva' (Himdola ragam), 'Tarangam - Jaya Jaya Durge' (Shanmukha Priya), 'Saraswathi namostuthe' (Saraswathi Ragam).

The programme was concluded with 'Kalinganarthana Thillana' set in Gambhiranata ragam. The artistes performed well with full grace and energy. This was supported by P Santhi (Vocal), P Satyanarayana (Mrudangam), P Anjaneyulu (Vailon), S Kumara Babu (Flute), Balu (Tabla) and K Somasekhar (Makeup). The able Nattuvangam of Ravi Balakrishna had richness to the performance. Vempati Satyaprasad, president of Vempati Kalakshetram organised the programme.
