Guntur: Nivar cyclone had damaged various horticulture crops in 25,511 hectares in YSR Kadapah, Prakasam, SPR Nellore, Chittoor, Kurnool, Anantauram, Guntur, Krishna and East Godavari districts.

According to final enumeration conducted by the Horticulture department officials, the government has to pay input subsidy of Rs 42.47 crore to 49,106 farmers in nine districts. The district officials sent a report to the commissioner of Horticulture for taking further steps to pay input subsidy to the farmers.

According to official sources, horticulture crops including chilli, banana,

papaya, flower gardens damaged in 17,413 hectares in Prakasam district. Loss due to crop damage is estimated at Rs 15.23 crore.

Banana, onion, vegetable gardens worst affected in 5,420 hectares in YSR Kadapah district. Loss due to crop damage is estimated at Rs 10.3 crore. Similarly, in SPSR Nellore district horticulture gardens were damaged in 3,710 hectares and loss due to crop damage is estimated at Rs 6.17 crore. Red chilli, turmeric, banana, papaya, maize and yam gardens were damaged in Guntur district. The enumeration teams assessed loss at Rs 4.48 crore. In Chittoor district, horticulture gardens were affected in 2,327 hectares. Loss due to crop damage is estimated at Rs 3.94 crore. In Kurnool district onion, banana, maize and vegetable gardens were damaged in 1157 hectares. Loss due to crop damage is estimated at Rs 1.17 crore.
