Nellore: The AP government has amended the rules and regulations on food safety scheme. The government has changed the rules and eligibility requirements for the issuance of ration cards depending on the annual income in villages and towns.

Four wheeler drivers are exempted from BPL quota. But it remains to be known does this apply to those who run cabs? As per the new rules, the families who are having an annual income of Rs 20000 in villages are eligible for ration cards while in towns, the eligibility is decided for those who have an annual income of Rs 44000.

People with four-wheelers are exempted from the quota. Sanitary workers working in government offices are issued orders to be considered under BPL quota. The new cards will be issued by January 1, 2020.
