Officials told to prepare for peaceful conduct of polls

Eluru: District collector and District Election Officer V Prasanna Venkatesh asked officials to get ready to conduct ensuing general elections in a foolproof manner.
He convened a preparatory meeting of elections for the officials at the Collectorate here on Tuesday.
He told the officials to carefully read and understand the guidelines given by Central Election Commission and the State Chief Electoral Officer and prepare for the conduct of elections carefully.
Tahsildar, MPDO and SHO are asked to visit the polling centres in all the mandals within 10 days and conduct a joint inspection. They should ensure that no names of the deceased are present in the voter list. Due to the release of the final list, for any deletions the District Election Officer should conduct an inquiry first and take steps.
In particular, the election rules and regulations should be implemented transparently to conduct the elections in a smooth and peaceful environment. Any complaints should be resolved at the constituency level itself.
District SP D Mary Prashanthi said that the coordination of revenue and police departments is very important in the conduct of elections. Everyone should work hard to conduct the elections transparently in a good atmosphere in the district. Mandal Tahsildar should coordinate with local police in matters of law and order. Joint Collector B Lavanyaveni said that the nodal officers of the respective departments should perform the duties assigned to them efficiently.
SEB Additional SP N Suryachandra Rao, District Revenue Officer D Pushpamani, ITDA PO Surya Teja, ZP CEO KSS Subbarao, RDOs NSK Khajavali, A Addaiah, Y Bhawani Shankari, officials of various departments, nodal officers, tahsildars, MPDOs and others were present.
