Ongole: The Prakasam District Collector Dr Pola Bhaskara has announced the shutdown of all the theatres in the district and ordered the private hospitals with 50 beds to arrange a two-bed isolation ward immediately. After the second positive case for Covid-19 reported in the district, the Collector, SP Siddharth Kaushal and DMHO Dr. K Padmavathi conducted an emergency meeting with the officials concerned and private hospital managements in the district on Thursday.
The District Collector explained that the area of the house of the patient, ZP Colony is announced as the containment zone and will be treated as the high-risk zone for two weeks. He said that the public movement in the area is restricted and the medical teams will conduct checkups daily on them. He said that as part of the precautionary measures, they are ordering an immediate shutdown of the government and private educational institutions up to March 31. He said that the theatres will also be closed as part of the fight with the Covid-19. He announced that they have ordered the establishment of 5-bed isolation centers at all hospitals with a 100-bed capacity and two-bed isolation wards with a 50-bed capacity.
SP Siddharth Kaushal said that the government officials should work with the commitment while the private hospitals extend cooperation to the government. He said that the public should not be carried away with the fake propaganda on Coronavirus but only follow the government statements. DMHO Dr. K Padmavathi said that 299 people reached the district from foreign trips and they are under observation. She advised people to share information about people coming from foreign trips and ordered the private hospitals to provide the best treatment if any person joined them with symptoms of Covid-19.
