Ongole : The BJP leaders from Prakasam district organised protests and rasta rokos in various towns in the district demanding that the government take action against the miscreants involved in vandalising the Hindu temples and breaking the idols of deities. They also demanded that the government provide security to all temples immediately.

The BJP Ongole Parliamentary constituency president Sirasanagandla Srinivas, district general secretary Ashok Yadav, district leaders Yogaiah Yadav, Seggem Srinivas, Ashok Yadav, Meena Kumari, and others protested in front of the Collectorate and organised a rasta roko on Saturday. Later, they submitted a representation to DRO Vinayakam demanding action against the culprits.

Srinivas said that 22 incidents of attacks on temples took place in the State after Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy assumed charge as the Chief Minister. He said right from the vandalisation of Durga temple in Guntur on November 14, 2019, to the incidents of breaking the idols of Lord Rama and others at Ramateertham, Subrahmanyeswara Swamy at Rajahmundry, the government failed to identify the people involved in the attacks on temples.

They said the Chief Minister and Home Minister failed to instill confidence among people that the government can protect the Hindu temples and their assets.

In Singarayakonda, Kisan Morcha State vice-president P V Krishnareddy, Assembly constituency convenor Sriramagiri Sridhar, Madhusudan Rao, Esanna, and others organised a rally demanding the arrest of the people attacking the idols and submitted a memorandum to the local tahsildar.
