Ongole: Andhra Pradesh Madyavimochana Prachara Committee chairman Vallamreddy Lakshmana Reddy appreciated the efforts put up by the Collector Dr Pola Bhaskara to develop the villages in the district. He met the collector in his camp office on Sunday and discussed with him on the phase-wise implementation of total prohibition and the challenges to be addressed. Lakshmana Reddy said that the Prakasam district is ahead in the implementation of welfare programs introduced by the government and appreciated the collector for taking initiatives to develop the villages. He said that they will appoint the mandal and village level Madyavimochana Prachara Committees and requested the partnership of the DWCRA women in the committees and cooperation of revenue and other line departments in the campaign. He said that the Special Enforcement Bureau in association with the local police is working well in controlling the illegal manufacture and transport of liquor and requested the cooperation of revenue and panchayat officials in the control of the unofficial sale of liquor at villages. He also advised the collector to conduct occasional reviews on the functioning of the de-addiction centers established in the district recently.
The collector said that with his experience in the public awareness programs, he would see the campaign against liquor consumption become a success in the district. He suggested that involving the village women protection assistants also in the campaign along with the DWCRA women will help them a lot. The collector accepted the invitation of Lakshman Reddy to attend a state-level awareness meet being planned at the latter's native village, Karumanchi, soon.
