Ongole: District Collector Dr. Pola Bhaskara announced that they were conducting a house-to-house survey with the village and ward volunteers to identify persons with the recent foreign travel history and whether they were infected with the Coronavirus. He conducted a press conference in the Collectorate on Sunday to explain the readiness of the district administration to tackle Coronavirus and the arrangements made for the same.

Bhaskara explained that the State Election Commission has postponed local body elections for six weeks due to emergency. He said that following the orders of the government, a review meeting was held with the Tahsildars and MPDOs to control the Coronavirus in the district. He said that they are following the professional protocol and ordered the village and ward volunteers to conduct a house-to-house survey to collect the data of recently foreign returned persons throughout the district.

He said that the Tahsildars and MPDOs will conduct a meeting with the local medical officers on Monday and will conduct meetings at all village and ward secretariats to create awareness among the public on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday along with the panchayat secretaries and EORDs.The collector advised the people returned from foreign to quarantine themselves for a minimum of 14 days to a maximum of 28 days and immediately contact the hospital is any symptoms of COVID-19 were observed.

The collector announced that they have set up isolation centers at four private hospitals in Ongole and one in Kandukur along with the government general hospitals in Ongole, Markapur, Kandukur, and Chirala. He said that they have already given training to tackle Coronavirus to medical teams and established a helpline with number 7729803162 to answer the public concerns over the disease.
