Ongole: Following the orders of SP Siddharth Kaushal, the SB CI-II N Srikanth Babu arranged an awareness programme on 'Controlling spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19)' at the Galaxy Complex in the District Police Office here on Friday.
The medical officer from District of Medical and Health Office Dr. K Avinash was the resource person and explained to the staff of all sections of DPO about the Coronavirus along with a demo on hand wash. Dr Avinash explained in his speech about the history of the COVID-19, symptoms, effects, the spread of the virus and the prevention methods. He says there is no vaccine for the COVID-19 yet but prevention is the only way to control it. The doctor informed the police personnel that the virus, once entered into the human body, is affecting the respiratory system, due to which the victim suffers from cold, cough, fever and finally dies from kidney failure. He said that following the precautionary methods instructed by the government, maintaining one-meter distance from others, washing hands six times per day, consume home-cooked food, bathing twice daily with hot water, avoiding public gatherings and functions, etc help in the control of the spreading of the Coronavirus. He said that the virus incubation is in the second stage in the country and advised the personnel to share the precautions with family and friends to highly create awareness in them so that they would also take measures in the fight with the pandemic. Later, he explained the standard procedure for hand wash and wearing and removing the mask.
Inspector Srikanth said that everyone should be ready for emergency duty for isolation ward guard duty or creating awareness campaign as the Coronavirus is spreading fast in the country and district. He said that educated should take the first step to prevent Coronavirus from spreading and advised them to share the speech of SP on the precautions to control the disease through Facebook and others. He said that the public should inform about the foreign returned people and see them home isolated for 14 days and shift to isolation ward if they develop any symptoms.
Inspector K Srinivasa Rao, Sub-Inspectors Shaikh Nayab Rasool, K. Ajay Kumar, and staff from all DPO sections also participated in the programme.
