Talking to newsmen here on Thursday, she said that the carrom board game, which was originated in India has been relegated to backstage due to the dubious role of some people. "It is high time the game was brought to limelight and give it due respect," she said.

Sajida said similar championship and tournament was conducted last year in Telangana and this time it would be conducted in Andhra Pradesh. The carrom championship was open for all the people throughout the country and table tennis tournament was limited to participants in Andhra Pradesh, she announced stating that there would cash awards of Rs 4 lakh to the winners in the carrom board game and Rs 5 lakh to the winners in the table tennis tournament.

Referring to the events, Sajida said that carrom championship was for men and women singles and the table tennis was open for all age groups. She said there has been tremendous response from the players and more than 300 people registered online to participate in the carrom championship.

She recalled that her mother was a carrom player and she continued the legacy. Her daughter Husna Sameera set the world record by playing the carrom board game for 20 hours, 20 minutes and 20 seconds in Hyderabad thus not only continuing the legacy but also setting new record.
