Srikakulam : Dream of poor people to have an own house turned into a reality on Friday with the distribution of house site pattas across the State under the leadership of Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, said Speaker Tammineni Sitaram.

The Speaker distributed house site pattas to poor women at Gajulakollivalasa village in Amudalavalasa mandal after celebrating Christmas.

Speaking on the occasion, Sitaram said that total 30,75,755 women across the State benefitted underthe house site pattas distribution programme. "Every person wants to have an own house but it is not possible for most of the poor families. But their dream has come true with the commitment of Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy," the Speaker said.

For each eligible poor woman, the government has decided to distribute 1.5 cents of site in rural areas and 1 cent extent of land in urban areas. Houses for poor will be constructed in two phases across the State. In Srikakulam, total beneficiaries under the housing scheme are 1,23,062. Of them 95,408 eligible poor are residing in rural areas and 27,654 are residing in urban areas.

Minister for Animal Husbandry S Appala Raju said the house sites were distributed in a festive atmosphere as two big festivals Christmas and Vaikunta Ekadasi were celebrated on Friday. He distributed house site pattas to poor women at Ramakrishnapuram in Palasa mandal.
