Tirumala: The three-day annual Pavithrotsavams commenced on a grand note at Tirumala temple on Sunday. Marking the beginning of the three day fete, Snapana thirumanjanam (celestial bath) was performed amidst chanting hymns from Vedas to the processional deities of Sri Malayappa Swamy and his consorts Sridevi and Bhudevi at Kalyanotsava mantapam in the shrine.

Later in the evening, Pavitra garlands were decorated to the deities. In view of the three day religious festival, TTD has cancelled all arjitha sevas. The three-day ceremony which is purification ritual is observed to rectify any lapses in the temple ritual and other ceremonies. Special Officer of Tirumala AV Dharma Reddy, Temple DyEO Harindranath and others were present.
