Pawan Kalyan fumes at cops over harassment in Vijayawada
Jana Sena president Pawan Kalyan took a strong exception to attacks and foisting of false cases against his party workers by police department.
Vijayawada: Jana Sena president Pawan Kalyan took a strong exception to attacks and foisting of false cases against his party workers by police department. In a press release on Tuesday, Pawan while condemning the attitude of police department, requested the party workers to maintain restraint.
Referring to Dharmavaram village under Durgi mandal in Guntur district, he alleged that the village has become a hotbed of unrest purely due to the "thoughtless, indiscriminate and biased behaviour" of a police officer. The police have created the worst situation where the men had left the village and taken shelter in other places with extreme fear, he said.
"When the police officials themselves become breakers of peace, to whom the people will turn? Is it a sin to perform a playlet during the village fest to enjoy the moment? Is it a crime to display the Jana Sena flags? Who vested the powers with the police to stop the playlet in the middle?
The police themselves have given the permission for the show and which Act gave powers to the them push away a woman who questioned the police excesses? Who permitted the officer to use lathis against people?", the Jana Sena chief said in the statement.
He called upon the senior officials of the police department to take stern action against the police personnel who bashed up the women and harassed the villagers. The statement also demanded immediate release of party activists Nageswara Rao and B Ramesh and lifting of cases registered against 32 others regarding the incident.
"Despite provocations and abuses, we will reply to them in a peaceful manner. I request the Jana Sainiks to maintain restraint during the incidents of this nature. I assure you that Jana Sena will stand by the victims," Pawan Kalyan said.
