Petition filed in Andhra High Court against the cut in government employees salary

The novel coronavirus has halted all economic activities across the state such as deferring the salaries of state employees. The government Andhra Pradesh has also issued GO 26 to the extent. Meanwhile, an employee of the judiciary has approached the High Court seeking the suspension of the government issued GO number 26.

In the wake of the coronavirus, the state government has issued a cut in salaries of IAS and All India Service Officers to 60 per cent and 50 per cent cut to the remaining employees and 10 per cent cut to fourth class employees. The government order states that the money will be paid back later.

However, YS Lakshmi Narasimha Murthy who is a senior assistant in the court of the senior civil judge of the West Godavari district, has filed a petition in the High Court challenging the GO 26. The petition demanded that the entire salary be paid without any cuts from March. He said the government orders were contrary to the principles of natural law and Article 21 and 300 (a) of the Constitution of India. The High Court would hear the case on Monday.

Meanwhile, the new cases reported in the state are 25 taking the total tally to 2230 with 103 new recovered cases and one death. The state has conducted more than 9000 tests in the last twenty four hours. Apart from the home cases, as many as 150 cases were reported to be 150. However, the government has decided to evacuate the migrants to their respective owners be states in a special busses for free of charges.
