Polavaram works resume as promised: P Anil Kumar Yadav
As the AP High Court gave a go ahead, the Megha Engineering and Infrastructures Limited (MEIL) performed Bhumi Puja marking the start of remaining works of Polavaram irrigation project on Friday
Amaravati: As the AP High Court gave a go ahead, the Megha Engineering and Infrastructures Limited (MEIL) performed Bhumi Puja marking the start of remaining works of Polavaram irrigation project on Friday as promised by Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy while cancelling removing the previous contractor Navayuga Engineering Company.
The puja was performed by A Venkata Satish, DGM, MEIL at Spillway block No 18, Polavaram project. The water Resources department executive engineer Yesubabu was also present . The works will begin on November 2.
Minister for water resources P Anil Kumar Yadav said in a press conference at YSRCP central office at Tadepalli that the government had restarted the Polavaram project works on November 1 coinciding with AP Formation Day as declared by the Chief Minister earlier.
He expressed happiness over High Court lifting the stay on the works given by a lower court on the Polavaram project. The minister said the High Court's verdict was a vindication of the government's stand and prove wrong the allegations of opposition leaders on Polavaram project as being politically motivated.
He said the project work would be completed in the stipulated time and so is the case with all other projects taken up by the government. He said that the previous TDP government had boasted of completing the Polavaram project, but had done nothing between 2014 and 2017 and only completed the spillway in the past two years and kept on telling lies that it had completed the whole project.
