Eluru: District Collector R Muthyala Raju has instructed the officials to prepare a list of eligible persons for availing housing scheme by September 15. He convened a video-conference with officials of the Housing Department, Tahsildars and Municipal Commissioners from the Collectorate here on Tuesday.
Speaking on the occasion, the Collector informed that a total of 5.77 lakh applications were received so far for house sites and housing units in the district. After their scrutiny, as many as 3,28,219 applicants were identified as eligible for the scheme. While 2.09 lakh have no housing sites, 1.19 lakh own house sites. Data filing was completed with respect to 1.14 lakh applications so far, he added.
The District Collector asked the officials to display a list of eligible and ineligible persons after a thorough scrutiny of the applications in the villages concerned on September 6. He directed them to complete the process of verification by Thursday.
With regard to data entry, help of ward/village volunteers should be taken. He warned the officials of stern action if any lapses noticed in data entry in a later stage. Joint Collector M Venugopala Reddy, Joint Collector-2 Tej Bharat, DRO Prabhakar Rao, Housing Corporation PD NRP Reddy and others were present.
