Protesting Naidu detention, TDP blocks Vizag-Araku road

Vizianagaram: The TDP leaders in the district on Thursday staged a dharna on Vizag-Araku main road protesting the detention of their party supremo N Chandrababu Naidu at Vizag Airport.

The TDP leaders alleged that the ruling YSRCP cadre resorting to 'undemocratic' practices and provoking the people to hurl eggs and chappals on Naidu protesting his visit to the city. As per plan, Naidu has to travel through S Kota, Gajapathinagaram and Vizianagaram by bus to participate in the party meetings in north Andhra region.

The TDP leaders alleged that the government totally failed to provide proper security cover for Naidu.

Party senior leader P Ashok Gajapathi Raju stated it is the responsibility of the government to provide security to the leader of opposition and facilitate him to meet the public. The government is insulting and ignoring the sacrifices of farmers of Amaravati, he pointed out. TDP leaders D Jagadish, Aditi Gajapathi Raju and I V P Raju participated in the protest.
