Rajamahendravaram: Vijaya Lakshmi vows to solve woes of part-timers

Rajamahendravaram: Andhra Pradesh Aided Colleges Part-Time Lecturers/Temporary Lecturers Association honorary president and YSRCP central governing body member Jakkampudi Vijaya Lakshmi assured to sort out the problems of part-time lecturers by taking the issue to the notice of Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy as early as possible.

Addressing the association members at its state meeting held SKVT College here on Sunday, Vijaya Lakshmi said the part-time and temporary lecturers though having qualifications and experience on par with aided regular lecturers, were getting meagre salaries and facing many financial problems.

While, the regular lecturers of aided colleges were drawing good salaries and even government contract lecturers were being paid a monthly salary of Rs 40,000, the un-aided part-time and temporary lecturers were receiving a very small amounts for many years, she said while noting that working hours were same for aided lecturers and contract lecturers. Vijaya Lakshmi said she would meet the Chief Minister shortly and raise their problem which had been in pending for many years.

Association president Raj Kumar and general secretary Dr P V B Sanjeeva Rao said the previous government had not heard their problem in spite of repeated requests. The association members were facing severe financial problems because of nominal salaries.

They demanded the government to pay salaries to them on par with aided regular lecturers as they had same qualifications, experience and working hours.

Moreover, the members had no facilities such as provident fund, ESI, etc., they said and requested the government to consider their just demands. Association leaders Ambedkar, Joshi and others were present.
