Kadapa: With the registration 64 new coronavirus positive cases on Wednesday, the total number of cases touched 1,163 in Kadapa district. Apart from Pulivendula, Proddaturu, the Kadapa city also saw more cases.

It may be recalled that Deputy Chief Minister Amzath Basha during the task force committee meeting admitted the district was witnessing severe problem with COVID-19 and directed the officials to initiate stringent measures and conduct house-to-house survey from July 1 to contain the disease.

Meanwhile the district administration declared 39 new containment zones on Wednesday taking the total number of zones to 76 in the district based on intensity of the situation. .

The rise in positive cases in the district was attributed to return of foreign returnees. As many as 7,475 foreign returnees engaged in different professions in Gulf returned to the district till date and another 2,000 were reportedly expected to come in the coming days.

Covid test results are yet to be announced for 3,246 cases related to foreign returnees.

The administration claimed 460 patients recovered from hospitals including 24 on Wednesday.

Meanwhile 13 people including Sundupalle MRO and some staff working in the same office and two journalists were tested positive on Wednesday. According to the sources, in view of positive cases, the government has reportedly decided to close the MRO office.
