Central MLA Malladi Vishnu said that doctors should actively participate in social service activities and serve society.
Vijayawada: Central MLA Malladi Vishnu said that doctors should actively participate in social service activities and serve society. The MLA participated as the chief guest at Roots Service Awards distribution function organised by Roots Health Foundation on Sunday. East MLA Gadde Ramamohana Rao was also present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Malladi Vishnu said that doctors' profession is a holy profession and should feel the responsibility to serve society. He expressed his happiness to be part of the prize distribution programme to doctors who served the society. He congratulated the foundation for organising the programme of honouring the privileged people on the occasion.
MLA Gadde Ramamohan Rao said that Doctors Day was celebrated on the birth anniversary of Dr BC Roy and appreciated the organisers for honouring eminent doctors to mark the day. He said that there is a misconception that all doctors are business minded. Doctors give the best to treat the patients who come to them for treatment, he added.
Foundation chairman Dr PV Vijayabhaskar said that they have been honouring doctors for their service in their field for the last ten years. About 75 doctors were honoured with best service till now, he said. Later, the chief guest honoured Dr K Vengal Rao from Bobbili with Roots Health Life Time Achievement Award 2019.
Dr N Subba Rao from Hanuman Junction, Dr D Ramachandra Rao from Visakhapatnam, Dr K Madhava Rao Chowdary, Ayurvedic doctor and M Madhavi Latha were honoured for their service with Roots Heath Service Awards. Roots chairman A Sivanageswara Rao, Rotary district governor GV Rama Rao, Andhra Hospital chairman Dr PV Ramana Murthy, doctors and others were present.
