Sajjala demands to revoke the postponement of the local body elections
Pointing out at the decision of the State Election Commissioner N Ramesh Kumar, the Government Advisor and YSRCP senior leader Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy demanded to revoke the postponement and conduct the local body elections as per the schedule.
Amaravati: Pointing out at the decision of the State Election Commissioner N Ramesh Kumar, the Government Advisor and YSRCP senior leader Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy demanded to revoke the postponement and conduct the local body elections as per the schedule.
Addressing at a press conference at the party headquarters at Tadepalli in Guntur district on Monday, he suspected that the SEC might have acted as per the directions of the TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu. He said that before making the decision, the SEC did not consult the State Chief Secretary or the concerned officials on the Coronavirus status in the State.
The way the SEC took the decision and executed the postponement orders were utterly disappointing the state government and all the public. If the elections to be continued as per the schedule, then it will be completed within the next two weeks.
"Everything was a violation. SEC crossed the limits. His decision was wrong. He didn't follow procedure. After seeing all, we understood that it was a decision with malafide intention", he said.
On March six, all political parties met. On that day, the same SEC said no need to postpone it as State government gave information.
SEC has to discuss with the CS and Health Secretary. That must be done in a proper manner. He has to follow certain protocols. SEC has every right to make any decision, we don't deny. But it must consult with the government before making a decision.
"We must exercise all the possible ways. He didn't consult YSRCP, which is a major stakeholder in the state. But he only consulted with TDP.", he added.
Nobody knew about Corona. Entire world brainstorming on it. CM also said that. Local body elections will help in understanding the issue at gross root levels.
The entire election procedure will be completed within two weeks. The entire elected body will be useful to prevent the disease and they will create awareness among the public. In our state also, Corona entered. If local body elections will be completed, then Rs 5,000 cr will come to the state.
Elections are being conducted in Goa. That state is more vulnerable than AP. Here, in our state, the voters are not coming from somewhere else. If the SEC conducted deliberations, then he will come to know.
The TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu has been criticising the government. The tensions are generally high in local body elections. Leaders at higher levels should be careful enough to reduce the tensions, like in the case of Macharla.
Primary problem is that the TDP didn't find even candidates to contest in the local body elections. Hence, he started criticising the government and YSRCP. Now, yesterday's decision was the culmination of all these developments.
