Tirupati: SOS Children's Village had initiated innovative library model called "Books in a Box" for remote and rural community children who don't have access to books and libraries.

Under this programme, groups of children from rural communities will be given a box full of books. Once in every three months children's groups will exchange their library boxes with other groups so all the groups will be getting a complete set new of books.

The programme was inaugurated by Sub Inspector of Police Yerpedu Ramchandra Nayak at Chindhepalli government school. School teachers, programme coordinators of SOS Somnath, Ms Prasanna and community leader Siddaiah were present on this occasion.

Assistant Director SOS Children's Village Tirupati Bino James told that Library services to children in rural areas are essential for their development.
