Srikakulam: District Collector J Nivas has directed the officials to register criminal cases against those flouting quarantine rules.

He was holding a review meeting with the officials concerned at Palasa Municipal office on Thursday. In the wake of outbreak of Covid-19 in Palasa town, the Collector declared part of the town as containment zone. Speaking on the occasion, Nivas directed officials to maintain strict vigil on the movements of persons who are confined in home quarantine. If anyone is found violating restrictions, register criminal cases against them to prevent further spread of infection, the Collector told the officials.

He also appealed to the people to return home by 1 pm to stem the spread of infection. At present, the situation in urban areas is not good. He advised the people to take all precautions. Dr Bagadi Jagannadha Rao, Municipal officials of Palasa town, Revenue and Medical officials were also present. The Collector directed the officials to ensure that there is no business activity in containment zones and all essential commodities are supplied to the people.
