Srikakulam: Covid pandemic will be more severe in its second wave, District Collector J Nivas alerted people on Tuesday.

In a press release, the Collector explained that the second wave was currently being witnessed in the States of Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh and Gujarat in the country.

Second wave of Covid will be more severe and people need to follow restrictions to prevent its spread, he said.

He pointed out that in the recent past, the positive cases have gone down in the district, and the people have stopped following Covid protocols. They were not wearing masks and getting themselves exposed, the Collector pointed out. He advised people to compulsorily wear masks to protect themselves from corona.

Meanwhile as a precautionary measure, mass prayers and processions have been banned at all temples in the district to prevent Covid second wave. The Collector appealed to people not to visit temples in a group without masks as the prevailing weather conditions in winter would lead to a quick spread of the virus.

Float festivals and other mass events have also been banned at all noted temples across the district in the wake of Covid second wave, he explained.
