Srisailam dam is once again flooded by heavy rains in the Krishna River basin. Four gates were lifted after 11.30 pm on Tuesday with 1.10 lakh cusecs of water being released into the sea. Officials lifted seven gates on Wednesday morning as the flow was rising with an inflow of 4.48 lakh cusecs.

With a flow of 4.50 lakh cusecs to Srisailam from Sunkesula and Jura is continuing, the dam which has a maximum water level of 885 feet is filled with water at 883.80 feet. 68,675 cusecs are being released downstream by electricity generation. The gates of the Srisailam project are being released for the seventh time this season. The Srisailam project, on the other hand, saw a record 1,236 TMCs floods this season.

717.01 TMCs have been released to Nagarjunasagar by generating electricity in hydroelectric centres. From June to September, it is very common for floods to occur in Srisailam. However, the project is still flooded with water due to torrential downpours in Maharashtra and Karnataka at the top.
