ST victims to get Rs 2 lakh compensation each

Machilipatnam: State ST Commission member V Shankar Naik informed that the commission will take stringent action against the accused who assaulted three ST women in K Kothapalem village of Mopidevi mandal recently. He called on the women who are taking treatment at the government hospital in Machilipatnam on Tuesday along with State SC commission Chairman M Victor Prasad.

He inquired about the incident and handed over Rs 50,000 to the victim Durga.

Later, he directed the hospital staff to provide better medical treatment to the victims. Speaking on the occasion, he said that the Commission is condemning this sort of atrocities against the STs.

He said that they had already given instructions to take stringent action on the accused persons.

He said that the commission will provide an outsourcing job to the victim Durga and will provide a domiciliation to victims K Padma, T Ramana and Durga.

He further disclosed that they will pay a compensation of Rs 2 lakh to each victim and as part of this they were given Rs 50,000 on Tuesday.

He also asked the District SP to take departmental action against the local police station SI and constable

for being inactive towards

the incident.
